Jeremiah Ochanda

Executive Director

A Swahili speaking native of Kenya, Jeremiah has been living and working as a translator among refugees since 2008.  During this time, he has been exposed to some of the challenges that his refugee friends and neighbors face after resettlement in America.

He strongly believes that in order to address the challenges that refugees face, one ought to seek to heavily partner with refugees. In order for a refugee to be fully integrated into America he or she must be made aware of the endless opportunities in America and encouraged to take advantage of them for the betterment of self and America at large.

Jeremiah has stated “It is important for MAC to focus on relationship building with refugees. We cannot truly address the needs of the people we serve without looking at their needs from their perspective. The only way we can do this is by relationship building and creating an environment where refugees feel empowered to speak up and take ownership of their new life in America.”
